Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Folio Society Three Volume Set in Slipcase (London, 1986). All volumes: No markings, annotations, or inscriptions. BUT: Volume I shows water staining to the outer edges of the preliminary pages, affecting the Introductions and General Prologue title page. Otherwise: internally fine across all volumes. Quarter leather with cloth sides, bright gilt titling to the spines, with a gilt design to the fronts. Fine, SAVE FOR some rubbing to the gilt front of Volume I (also with some faint staining to the cloth, corresponding to the interior). The slipcase remains tight and square, with some light surface scratches (essentially to one side only). Volume I: lx, 331pp, illustrated; Volume II: vii, 379pp, illustrated; Volume III: vii, 600pp, illustrated. Illustrated by Raymond Hawthorn, Sue Scullard, et al. A collectible edition (qua edition), because of F. N. Robinson's superb edition of the original text (reprinted from the Second Edition of the authoritative Oxford University Press text, with David Wright's translation (also Oxford) printed en face), along with the two Introductions and an excellent 100-page Glossary. (The illustrations are also very handsome.) HOWEVER, the staining to the preliminary page edges of Volume I will render this copy UNSUITABLE for those collectors prioritising item condition over textual and editorial authority. (Please Note: a heavy 3-volume set; international orders will certainly incur a request for additional shipping fees.). …
