This wonderful and colourful children's book is a hardback with titles on both the spine and front board, on the back board is a list of the books in the series of 39 x books, published by Dean & Son Ltd. Good Condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. 184 pages, pen & ink name on first blank page. Nice large text, ideal for younger children to learn to read. Published in 1969, wonderful illustrations by Rene Cloke. A fabulous mid-century publication, with an endearing storyline, captivating younger children with no preconceptions of the modern world of today.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Rene Cloke (illustrator). Hardback, 1969 edition. Condition: Very Good in a Good complete dustjacket. Later editions had a laminated cover and no separate jacket. In this edition the Golliwogs are renamed 'Wiggie, Waggie and Wollie' rather than the N' word variations of the 1968 edition. Some tanning to the page edges and a fine line of sunning to the front board and to the top tip of the spine, the latter caused by minor chipping to the jacket. Jacket is otherwise complete with just a little creasing to the top edge. The young previous owner has written 'got' faintly in biro against some of the titles listed on the rear pane. This copy has their bookplate to the front pastedown, but is otherwise clean, well-bound and complete. Scarce. Binding firm, red boards have bumping, rubbing, chipping and marks, with some fading to spine area and top edge, inscription blacked out inside front board on ffep, which shows through to reverse side and next page, small inscription inside front board, pages tanned and foxed, approx 8 pages have a small closed tear to bottom margin, some illustrations have been neatly coloured in, creasing to some pages. 152 pages illustrated by Joyce A. Tears to bottom of eps, half-title, title, contents and some other pages. Stain to top of rear board, board corners rubbed and bumped. Size: 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Book.

Condition: Good. Boards and light discoloring with small ink mark to front. Good DJ with some small chips and tear but is clean and bright. Contents has light toning evan throughout with previous owner's name to front endpaper. Slight crack to hinge by title page.
