Condition: New. 2006 reprint by Rediscovery Books SB 2 volsPublished Price £35 The author of this fascinating and little-known work of 19th century exploration led, as his title says, three expeditions into the unknown interior of Australia in the 1830s at a time when the vast country was little more than a small collection of sparsely inhabited British colonies clinging to the coast. Composed from the journals which he wrote up at the end of each day's trek, the books contain the author's observations of the Aboriginal people, as well as the animals, plants, fossils, topography and meterology he encountered in exploring the Gwydir, Darling and Murray river areas. Well and lavishly illustrated, this two-volume work is indispensible to all those interested in early exploration and the history of Australia. Book.…
