No Binding. Condition: Good. A unique opportunity to acquire a large quantity of ephemera relating to Thorne Colliery in Yorkshire including 8 hand written site diaries from 1980 1981 & 1982 when the NCB were reconstructing the shafts after many years of closure, all to no avail as it was decided not to continue work because of the falling demand. There are many photographs of the works, presumably taken by a specialist company in this field, and a lot that have been photocopied. A photocopy of a paper written by A.R.Neelands in March 1926 "The Thorne Colliery Pit Sinkings" detailing the original works that were held up during the Great War because a German company was responsible for sinking the shafts. There is a folder containing most of a thesis written for a degree that contains much history and technical information about the colliery and some other related papers. This is an exceptional lot for anyone interested in Thorne or mining in general, please contact me direct for more information and accurate shipping costs and other mining related lots. Price includes the additional domestic postage required, but overseas shipping will be more.
