A fascinating and detailed background to the Railway series about Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends. [together with] Map of the Island of Sodor Size:14.5 x 10.5cm folded, 56 x 29cm unfolded. This is a charming and rare vintage survival - a folding map of the Island of Sodor published by Edmund Ward in 1958. It shows the topography of the island alongside a detailed reference list that records exactly where all the little engines' misadventures took place, from where 'James had hiccoughs' and 'Percey fell into the sea' to where 'Sir Handel slipped through the rails' and 'Henry met an elephant'. The map is in very good condition, the cover slightly wear with small crack to the spine. Else clean and bright. Signed by Author(s).
