Thin Stone Book Paperweight Embedded (1 results)

Condition: Very Good. Measuring 133 by 79 mm. 12 mm. thick. The stone is Marble, and probably a Carrara marble. There is a faint incised foliate design on the top side, which also features the printed scene that depict a hermit by a cave opening and moutains off in the background, with a castle, perhaps two, on distant mountaintops. Four raised bands on the "spine". Sides are carved to simulate convincingly the appearance of a thin volume. Condition: minor edge abrasions and wear, or put another way, minor chipping. The overall aesthetic integrity of this unusual stone book survives.
