Fotine (1911-1990) led his own orchestra from 1948 to 1955, and was a prolific songwriter with over 300 tunes to his credit; he also worked for a couple of years as an arranger for Lawrence Welk. The inscribee, Sonny Burke (1914-1980), was an arranger, composer, big band leader and producer; as musical director for Reprise Records (and afterwards) he was associated with Frank Sinatra in the creation of more than a dozen albums over the course of twenty years.
