Printer's code: 997.1163 which I believe indicates that the book was actually printed in Nov 1963. The book, which was the eighth of the series, was first published in 1945, and then reprinted many times with ten different jacket designs. With 300 breeds described and 148 illustrations in black & white. ***Near fine in red textured boards with black titles to the spine and front board. The covers are clean and unmarked. No creases or tears. Corners sharp. No bumps. Text block edges nice and clean. Internally the book is also near fine - extremely clean with no inscriptions or annotations. Printed on nice quality glossy paper. No marks. No creases. No cracking to the binding. Spine tight. ***In a very good colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 5/- net. The dustwrapper is complete without any loss, but there is some rubbing and creasing at the extremities, commensurate with age and handling. There is a crease at the top of the front panel, and a small closed tear with associated creasing at the top edge of the back panel. No chips or serious tears.
