Add to basketCloth & Boards. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine in Archival Plastic Cover. Joseph Mugnaini (illustrator). Later edition. A very nice edition (later) of one of the late Ray Bradbury's most popular books, signed and dated "Nov 9,1989" by him on the front free endpaper in black felt pen. Nicely bound in black cloth and orange boards with silver titling, in fine condition. The dustjacket is complete with the original price ($12.95) and is in fine condition, protected by an archival dustjacket but for minor rubbing and small tears at the edges, minor. A Note: some dealers have this book listed as a first edition published in 1972 because Knopf has 1972 on the copyright page. However, the true first edition of "The Halloween Tree" has a cover that shows a windy tree on a cream background and the price on the front flap is $3.95, not $12.95. And it has no ISBN because of its age. See our item #3606 (if available). We think 1989 is the publication date of this edition (the copyright page says 1972). The signature/date, and the copyright notations on the dustjacket indicate it has to be 1989 -- after 1988 (see Jacket illustration copyright 1988 on back flap) but before Nov 9, 1989 when it was signed (assuming Ray Bradbury got the correct date!).

Eight tiny spots to lower edge of textblock, else very Near Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped (priced £1.95 net), with a hint of sunning to the red and yellow spine lettering, and some light wear to extremities. An attractive copy of the author's beloved Halloween classic, in which the characters travel through time to visit Halloween's past. Joseph Anthony Mugnaini (1912-1992) was distinguished Italian-American artist and illustrator, and a close friend and collaborator of Bradbury's since the early 1950's. In our experience, trade editions of their collaborative works signed by both of them are quite uncommon.
