    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Red clothbound with elaborate embossing, gilt print, beveled edges and inset front-cover illustration. Undated on title or copyright pages; biographical notice is dated 1871 from Edinburgh. Exterior page edges are gilt. Spine top/bottom edges are lightly frayed, and spine is lightly sun faded; otherwise exterior is remarkably sharp and clean. Front cover embossed details and decorations are superb and near fine. Interior is very clean, crisp and well preserved. Front and rear hinges are torn with strong tight binding. Prior owners nameplate on front fep. Text and many illustrations couldn"t be better. Illustrations include from "Four Engravings on steel." Photo requests encouraged.
