Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. pp.xl, 591 pages. A very good plus hardback, publisher's original dark green cloth binding with gold gilt lettering to the spine. There's virtually no wear to the exterior, just mild natural foxing to the half title and title page. Otherwise the book is in wonderful condition - tightly bound and square. Undated - previous owner's name dated 1898.

Part of the Columbine Library series, which was published between 1884 and 1920; 535 p., clean and unmarked except for letter S in red on front paste down; paper strong and only mildly age-toned, occasional foxing on end pages; bindign firm; maroon boards have blind stamped medallion emblem featuring a flowering stlak of columbine; gilt lettering on spine. Corners are bumped and there is rubbing on edges.

The bottom edges of boards has a few dings and dents. Black illustration and titles to front board and simple black titles to spine. Moderate browning to page-edges, ink name to inside of front board, and child's pencil name and address (Talybont, Cards) o/w pages clean and tidy. Pages are straining but binding sound.
