Textured Cloth. Condition: Good. Brown cloth. Lt. yellow endpapers. The top end of the text block is brown; the other two ends are lighter brown, which is probably from darkening. 242 pages; the frontal matter has 5 b & w illustrations; a fac-simile of Thackery's hand-writing is on dark paper. The sub-title is The Story of his Life and Literary Labours, Including a Selection from his Characteristic Speeches, Now for the First Time Gathered Together, to Which is added In Memoriam, by Charles Dickens, and A Sketch, by Anthony Trollope." An owner's name is on both sides of the front FEP, with ink blotting on facing paper. The boards' front corners are a little threadbare and softened. The spine strip has faded a little and its turnovers are frayed. The frontispiece, its tissue guard, and the title page have darkened in a mottled fashion. Some pages have small stains, mostly on a margin(s).
