Typed manuscript presented in hardback binder in dark blue: handwritten label on the front cover "Discarded rewrites from Tale of the Lazy Dog" with printed contact address of '78 Orbel Street London SW11 2286912.' Typed labels on spine: title "Discarded pages from Tale of the Lazy Dog." and 'London, Gaiole, Corfu ÐSummer 1969.' Typed on single sides pp.189. Typed word count in excess of 5,000 (Pages not numbered.) Energetic editing and crossings out in blue, black, and red felt pen, with hand written notes by the author on every page. Tale of the Lazy Dog was first published in London by Anthony Blond, 1970. The plot involves a plan to steal a million dollars from a Southeast Asian airfield. /Alan Emlyn Williams (1935Ð2020)[was an ex-foreign correspondent, novelist and writer of thrillers. He was responsible with a friend for smuggling Solzhenitsyn's manuscript of 'Cancer Ward' out of the Soviet Union where publication had been prohibited. Williams was a godson of Noel Coward and son of the actor and writer Emlyn Williams. Very good.
