Of… these seven different books the SYSTEM apparently was the most popular, . The first 50 pages were like a catechism of questions in fine print. These were questions about the maps in the ATLAS. The remainder of the book was descriptive geography about the different countries of the world, with questions at the end of each section . and included many small pictures." - NIetz, OLD TEXTBOOKS, pp. 229-230. Section 64 is devoted to Russian America, with a wood engraving of a "Subterranean Mansion of the Aleutian Islanders". Section 121, Illinois, has an engraving of "Illinois College". Section 120, Indiana, has an engraving of the "Battle of Tippecanoe". Section 126, California, features an engraving of San Francisco. Lead is found in greater quantity in Wisconsin than in any other part of the U.S. Its entry has an engraving of lead mining. 16 colored maps, 100 engravs (illustrator).
