Er war von 1974 bis 2006 Lehrstuhlinhaber (H4) zunächst für Didaktik der rechtswissenschaftlichen Ausbildung, später für Rechtsphilosophie, am Fachbereich Rechtswissenschaften der Universität Hannover.
