First edition (simultaneous paperback and hardback issues, sharing the handsome cover illustration by Gregory Bridges). Octavo-size paperback original. Part of the spine background just slightly faded (not affecting any lettering), page edges slightly embrowned, otherwise fine in a clear archival jacket for this copy. Drewe's fine novel on Ned Kelly (the main source for the Heath Ledger film), published some years before Peter Carey's award-winning re-telling of the story, with a laudatory review by Carey on the front cover ('An important writer meets an important myth and reinvents it in the most sensual, visceral language he has yet produced.to forever change the way we see Ned Kelly'), a review which doesn't appear on the hardcover. The hardcover issue of this first edition is notoriously scarce (reportedly printed in very small numbers for friends of the author), but even this paperback issue (first printing) is uncommon. Postage within Australia for this small/light book is set at $5 , so please disregard any site default rate, which will be adjusted downwards before the order is processed by the bookseller.

Soft Cover. Condition: F-. First Edition. 8vo. original printed paper wraps (a trifle rubbed, some toning to paperstock, texter mark to tail edge denoting one-time remaindered copy); pp. [x (last blank)], 190 (last blank). A near fine copy.
First edition. Hardcover. Fine in fine dustjacket. Drewe's fine novel on Ned Kelly (the main source for the Heath Ledger film), published some years before Peter Carey's award-winning re-telling of the story. The hardcover issue of this first edition is notoriously scarce (reportedly printed in very small numbers for friends of the author), and even the paperback issue (with a Peter Carey laudatory review on it) is uncommon. Both issues share the same striking Gregory Bridges illustration. The hardcover issue will arguably always be this fine author's rarest book.
