Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Jacket by Broome Lynne (illustrator). 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. Some edge wear and rubbing to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners slightly rubbed and bruised, some slight yellowing to back jacket, not price clipped (16s), previous owner's stamp to top ffep, internally clean tight and almost square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 208pp. An autobiography of the extraordinary exploits of Vincent Charles Hitchcock (1927-76), the first British bullfighter in Spain. Vincent Hitchcock was for many years the only professional matador from England. He entertained crowds in the Spanish arena from 1949 up to the 1960s and killed more than 100 bulls during his career. He was tossed many times, repeatedly gored and almost lost his life on several occasions. His parents deplored his choice of profession and thankfully the world has moved on with regards to animal welfare. Vincent Hitchcock died in 1976 from cancer at the age of just 48. Quite a scarce book.
