"The drawings of Axel Amuchasteguie were first shown in England in 1963 at an exhibition of Bird Artists of the World, at the Tryon Gallery. His work was immediately acclaimed. In 1965 we held an exhibition of his bird an animal drawings, sixteen being later published in the book Some Birds and Mammals of South America in an edition of 300 copies which was over-subscribed long before publication. Fifty of these copies were specially bound and included an original drawing. This present book includes a selection from the small original [coloured] drawings from the special edition of Some Birds and Mammals of South America, together with some of the small studies which were shown in the 1965 exhibition." Fine quality reproductions of some remarkably good bird and mammal paintings. .
