4to. 26-33 pp. With a map and two charts in the text. Original printed wrappers. Stapled. Scientific paper by the leading geologist of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, George Martin Lees (1898-1955). An inscribed copy signed by the author: "With the Author's Compliments / G. M. Lees". - The paper studies the geological structure of oilfields in the Middle East, including the Burgan field in Kuwait and the Kirkuk field in Iraq, considering the latter a "striking example [of] unusual structural simplicity and regularity" (p. 26). - The illustrations include a geological map of oilfields in Iran, Iraq, and the Gulf region, a generalised table of strata showing correlation between mountain front and the Arabian foreland, and a digrammatic cross section of the Burgan oilfield. - Reprinted from the International Geological Congress, "Report of the Eighteenth Session, Great Britain, 1948", part VI. - Front cover has stamp of the Queen Mary College, Geological Department. Slightly creased; small rust spots near staples. - Cf. OCLC 545053.
