Hopkins is well remembered for the distinctive soundtracks he composed for the 1950's and 60's film hits - Baby Doll, The Hustler, 12 Angry Men and others as well for his extensive television related compositions in his role as Paramount TV music director from 1969-73. His rare soundtracks for Lilith, starring Warren Beatty and Jean Seberg and This Property is Condemned starring Natalie Wood are much sought after rarities. He also composed unusual and pioneering atmospheric recordings featuring the aural atmospherics of horror on the albums Panic, the Son of Shock and Nightmare! ! , along with atmospheric jazz filled cityscape compositions such as The Sound of New York.
