Wilson, Mark (illustrator). Hardback oblong quarto, no jacket, good condition, pictorial cover, colour drawings (mostly full-page), illustrated endpapers, some colour loss & laminate lifting top corner front cover & bottom corner rear cover (not affecting cover illustration), minor edgewear & rubbing (spine ends little bumped). 31 pp. A wonderful children's picture story by Jan Ramage about a baby whale getting stranded on the beach, and Ben who risked his life to save it. The beautiful artwork by Mark Wilson is very lifelike and makes the story suitable to any age. The story is based on a true story of saving 120 beached whales. There were two rescues at Busselton, Western Australia. One was a world-first because 1500 people turned out to save the 120 stranded whales. It began with one person, culminating in a tidal wave of community support against unsurmountable odds, and remarkably all but one whale survived.
