Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Good. See scans and description. New York: American Book Company, 1887 (Copyright by D. Appleton and Company). First Edition. 'Stories of Heroic Deeds', by James Johonnot. 12mo, printed olive-brown cloth-covered boards, red imprinting on front cover and red publisher's emblem at rear cover, 157 pp. (151 + 6). Good; notable edge wear, spine shows no imprinting (though there may not have been any), last two endpapers show a youngsters thorough doodling, modest stain at rear cover, quaint original school ownership designation at ffep (scan). Binding is shaken but strong, thanks to undated professional tape repair at hinges. See all scans. A very scarce first edition of a textbook once so popular that it is being reprinted, new, as of this listing. Tales - with illustrating engravings - of historical heroes, both famous and not-so-famous. One for the collector. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. L72.
