Green textured cloth covered hard boards in original un-clipped dust jacket. SIGNED by Stirling Moss and Jack Brabham to the title page. Stirling Moss wrote the foreword to this book. Alf Francis was Moss' mechanic over several years including his 1954 Formula 1 Maserati and Moss' seasons with the Mercedes and Maserati works teams in 1955 and 1956 and most of this book covers their years working together. Francis subsequently worked as Brabham's mechanic at Rob Walker Racing in the early 1960's. An excellent account of 1950's motor racing. Very Good book which has spotting to edges, end papers and title page, otherwise clean inside. The jacket is in just about Fine condition, slight fade to the red ink on the spine.

The photograph taken by Hain at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2001, has been SIGNED by both the photographer, Tim Hain, and the subject, Stirling Moss. This print is the same image used on the front of the dust jacket of Lap of Honour. Pasted to the verso is a description of how Hain came to capture this excellent and very personal image of Moss seated at the wheel of the Mercedes Gullwing at the start of the Goodwood Hill Climb. Dustwrapper is clean and bright, but has some light edge wear and creasing to top edge on both front and rear. The upper corners are a little bumped, with creasing to binding below, and there is a 1cm split to the rear top dustwrapper corner. There is also a tiny split to the front cover dustwrapper corner. Other than the corner bumps mentioneed, the binding is clean and sound. The text is clean and crisp but there is a little light creasing to several lower corners in the early text and a minoe edge bump to several pages near the rear. Overall a VG copy in dustwrapper. Heavy book weighing c2400g when wrapped, exceeding the default of 1000g used for the postage quotation, and so the extra postage at cost will be requested at the time of order if to be sent overseas or within the UK.
