He provides fascinating insights into the develop…ment of relations between individual Chinese and Westerners. Very good book in good dust jacket. DJ has wear and soiling, small closed tears to spine head and heel edges. DJ has been corner clipped but the original publisher's price sticker (40s. net) is present, DJ now in non-adhesive clear protective cover. The former owner of this book had the interesting habit of inserting, sometimes "tipped in" - sometimes loose, newspaper articles, photos, postcards, etc relating to the book. There are a few such items in this book. There are also may be some hand written notes. Whilst you could say this is damaging the quality of the book, it also adds a lot of interesting context around the suject matter so I have not attempted to remove these items. Please ask if you would like more information or photos. In this book, the owner has inserted a letter from the author Delia Jenner (Author of Letters from Peking) in which Jenner recommends this book to the owner. Owner's inscription on FFEP.
