Condition: As New. Moebius (Jean Giraud) and Gaetano (Tanino) Liberatore (illustrator). This is a Signed Limited edition print. Signed by both artists in pencil lower right. Size: 22" x 30" (560mm x 760mm). An exquisite and excruciatingly rare screen-print signed by both Moebius and Tanino Liberatore. Moebius's original ink drawing for this piece was coloured 3 different ways and used in 3 different places. This particular iteration was coloured by Tanino Liberatore, whom Moebius had collaborated with before (for the limited edition print in the slip case Starwatcher book for example), and was used as the cover of a magazine called Frigidaire in 1990. This large screenprint is blind stamped by Editions Aedena Paris and hand numbered from an edition of just 150, as well as being signed by both artists. The other two colour variations of this piece were used for the front cover of Moebius's book 'Made in L.A.' and a blue version in the pages of Moebius's book 'Fusion' The Elegance of character and colouring combined with the incredible screenprinting techniques used in this print make it very special indeed. Long out of print and unavailable we have uncovered a few surviving copies of this superb limited edition print. In this rare and beautiful screen print published by Gentiane in 1979, Moebius reinterprets one of the cards of the Tarot of Marseilles. This screen print was printed in a hand numbered run of only 100 copies, and became such an import work that it was later produced into enamel plates. Taking the figure of The Fool and transporting him into universe of sci-fi and fantasy, the image clearly has elements of Moebius' Starwatcher costumes. Featuring the 4 suits from the Tarot deck; Cups, Wands, Coins and Swords, many subtle details delight in this screen print, including a mysterious shell amongst the arid desert landscape very reminiscent of the later master work 40 Days in The Desert B. The image size is square on a sheet of heavy gauge acid-free cartridge paper measuring 458 x 520 mm This is an incredibly rare print to come across and this is the first time we have ever been able to offer this print in our many years.
