One of the Coles Canadian Collection - a facsimile of the edition published by Hurst & Blackett, London, 1866. "Step into the boots of a touring English sportsman, travel across the ocean and up the St. Lawrence River. Ramble vast tracts of primaeval forest, game stocked prairies, and broad rivers, hunting, fishing, and sketching all the while. This comprehensive guide to British North America for the hunter and nature-lover of over a century ago takes us on such a tour, describing in exhaustive detail the game, game birds, and fishes of Canada. Full of all sorts of tips on successful hunting and nature watching, the author portrays Canada as a hunter's paradise and a nature-lover's nirvana. His enthusiasm is surpassed only by his wealth of information on every conceivable aspect of Canadian wildlife: each creature's habits and habitats, the hunting season, the various hunting methods, and tips such as warning on when not to approach a moose." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - minor edge wear, small tear mark at bottom of spine.
