Fight for the Sky: The Story of the Spitfire and Hurricane is the only book written by legendary RAF fighter ace Douglas Bader, and it's as spirited and vivid as the man himself. - Includes gripping accounts of aerial dogfights and strategic challenges. The book features reflections from fellow aces like Johnnie Johnson, Laddie Lucas, and Max Aitken. Bader's writing is direct, passionate, and unapologetically proud of the RAF's achievements. His admiration for the aircraft and the men who flew them is palpable. The book is both a historical document and a tribute?part memoir, part technical chronicle, and part rallying cry. Ref GG 1.

First edition. A history of the Spitfire and Hurricane with a focus on their use during World War Two. Written by legendary Group Captain Douglas Steuart Bader C.B.E., D.S.O., D.F.C., this is not only the story of two famous aircraft types, but also of Bader and his experiences during World War Two. Bader lost both of his legs in a flying accident in 1931. While invalided from the Royal Air Force in 1933, he rejoined the RAF in 1939, quickly rising to the status of Wing Commander by 1941. He first saw action in his Spitfire in Dunkirk, and then in a Hurricane in the Battle of Britain. With his offical score being 22.5 German aircraft destroyed, his service led him to be known as one of Britain's foremost flying aces.
