Sketches of Creation: A Popular View of Some of the Grand Conclusions of the Sciences in Reference to the History of Matter and of Life by Alexander Wichell, Professor of Geology, Zoology, and Botany in the University of Michigan, Copyright 1870, printed in 1873. THIS book was donated by "Reverend M. R. Franci of the Drew Theological Seminary (1867-1928) in Madison, NY" to the Hinesburgh Public Library, Hinesburgh, Vermont in 1902. The H.P.L. was opened in the Town Hall in 1902 and this book is numbered #608 in the library collection, making it one of the very first books shelved in the library. Reverend Franci's signature is on the second page. The book is profusely illustrated and has only a near perfect "Public Library" label on the inside cover, and a fold-out "Rules and Regulations" in near-perfect condition. Hard cover edition. 459 pages. Dimensions: 5.25" by 7.5". Published by Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York Copyright 1870, 1873 edition. B&W illustrations. Brick-Red binding.
