Half Cloth - Hardbound. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. Third Edition. 207 pages. Contemporary binding in half leather and half marbled paper, by Bayntum of Bath, England. Raised spine bands with gilt stamped lettering and vignettes in each compartment. Covers are rubbed and a little worn along edges. Leather over spine is chipped and scuffed, affecting some lettering. Top board is barely holding by a few threads. Volume is otherwise tight. Contents are generally clean, though show a little offsetting and occasional foxing.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. 3rd Edition, 1838. Cloth boards have minor wear with gilt lettering on the spine. Blind stamped design to boards, has fading of color to the board edges and spine. Clean, has a good binding. Old name dated 1838 is written inside on the front pastedown, some old bookseller notes written verso the front free endpaper in pencil, no other marks or notations. All illustrations included.

Publisher's cloth binding with gilt titles, blind tooled detail to the boards, folded to the top of the spine, cloth faded unevenly, slightly cocked, with one gathering standing slightly proud, otherwise a well preserved and attractive copy. Bound in pink cloth, gilt spine titles and blind tooled detail to the boards, illustrated with engraved frontispiece, title-page and 3 full-page engraved plates. Tom Oakleigh was a pseudonym of James Wilson. "The endeavour has been to compress into the Oakleigh Code such practical information only as it will be serviceable to the shooter in pursuit of grouse, black-game, partridges, pheasants, woodcocks, snipes, and hares." xvi, 207pp Approximately 8 inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles with gilt bands either side, worn top and tail, colour has faded, top and base of the spine folded and creased. Joints good condition gently rubbed and worn. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition pink cloth boards with blind tooled detail, colour has faded around the edges, the rear board has some black marks. Page edges good condition top edge darkened, fore and bottom edges lightly tanned, some pages standing proud. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition plain. End papers good condition plain, free end papers are tanned and foxed. Title good condition first title page has a b/w vignette 'Capercailzie Shooting' and is lightly tanned and foxed, the text title page is also lightly tanned and foxed. Pages good condition tissue guarded frontispiece 'Ptarmigan Shooting', 3 full-page engraved plates, one plate at page 122 partially detached, lightly tanned and foxed throughout.
