(Ang). ~ The first edition form a series of articles on shooting appeared in "The New Sporting Magazine" of May, 1833 the material was used for an article on shooting in the Encyclopedia Britannica in the 1840's. Editor was James Wilson (pseud. Tom Oakley). Oakleigh Old Manor House is located in Shropshire, England and the estate is presently for sale at 3.5 million pounds.

"Most of the contents are enlarged articles that first appeared in 'The New Sporting Magazine'.The chapters are small (some only a paragraph or two) but are informative on all that relates to shooting" (Chute). Chapters on guns for game bird shooting, gunpowder and shot, dogs and their training, game bird shooting in England and Scotland, etc. "Oakleigh" was the name of the family estate in Derbyshire. Very good, in a worn binding.
