Add to basketCondition: Good. Shakespeare's Complete Works (or, The Works of Shakespeare) complete set in 40 volumes edited by Wiliam J. Rolfe. Published between 1880 (Tragedy of Macbeth) and 1922 (Merchant of Venice). Approximately 17.5 cm. No jacket. The 1880's and 1890's volumes were published by Harper & Brothers, Publishers, New York. The later ones (most volumes) in the early 1900's were published by The American Book Company, New York/Cincinnati/Chicago, with Harper & Brothers mentioned on the copyright page. Description: Reddish/orange boards with gold detain on front covers and spine. Previous owner's name and date (1923) on ffep on almost all volumes. Most volumes are unmarked and in very good condition considering their age. The earlier volumes contain more wear on the covers than the later ones. Tragedy of Macbeth is unmarked; however, it shows signs of being used including binding beginning to loosen - but the pages are still fully attached. King Henry the Fourth, parts 1 and 2 contain underlining and marginalia in pen on most of the pages. King Henry the Fifth contains underlining and marginalia as well, on less than half the pages, in pencil. A handful of volumes with light wear on covers, rubbing along spine, boards beginning to separate from binding but still fully attached. Overall, an attractive and uncommon set. Please note that due to weight, shipping will likely cost more with most services. Not available for international shipping. 1h.
