Leslie was a musical conductor, composer, author, and music book publisher. His firm was in Chicago; he lived in the town of Cottage Grove, Dane Co., Wisconsin. He travelled extensively, "organizing musical conventions and appearing in Chautauqua and other work. He was a Thirty-third degree Mason, and honor wich is conferred on few men.Mr. Leslie organized the Kansas state jubilee at Lawrence, Kas., in which 6,000 singers participated." - Wisconsin State Journal, Jan. 15, 1926 obituary for his wife, Allie B. Leslie.
