Add to basketCondition: Very Good. [Guide Book to Nikko Area from 1930 with Collotype Illustrations]. 5 x 7 1/2 in, horizontal format, paper wraps, string ties, 78 pp. This is a seventy eight page guide book which contains 38 black and white collotype plates with images of important sights and relics in the Nikko area. It is dated Showa 5 (1930). The collotype images are generally 3 1/2 x 5 in. An image is on one side and the facing page has a description of the view in English and Japanese. The colophon is in Japanese but states "Sold at the Kiosk Close by the Sorinto pillar, behind the Samhutsudo, Nikko." This book is out of the ordinary in that the illustrations are produced by more expensive and higher quality collotype process rather than the normal halftone. ~ Condition. The book is in very good condition. It has occasional pencil underlining. The back cover and last 3 pages have creasing and dog ears and there is a 1/3 inch tear at the middle of the bottom edge. The book has a private circular datestamp on the front and back covers reading 5 (1930).7.18. These date stamps were available at various sights and probably the owner had it affixed.
