Number line down to 2 with "First Edition" stated -- indicating a First Edition/First Printing for a Random House book during this period. The book has sound hinges and does not lean. There is a short gift inscription on the book's first free end page (not from the author) dated in 1970--the book's year of publication. Interior pages are very lightly toned but clean without marks, creases, stains, wrinkles, foxing or tears. The brown cloth outer covers and spine are quite clean and the copper and red design and lettering on the front cover and spine is clean and bright. There is slight fading to top and bottom edges of the book's covers. Outer page edges on the bottom of the book and fore-edge are clean but there are some black marks on the outer page edges on the book's crown (see photos). The lower right corner of the front cover and lower left corner of the back cover are each just slightly bumped at the tips. The book's original dust jacket is not price-clipped ($6.95). Inside flaps are very clean but slightly toned. The upper left corner of the inside rear flap is creased. The book's front and back panels and spine show very slight soiling. There is very light wear to top and bottom edges of the jacket including a few tiny chips and tears. We have put a clear archival sleeve on the dust jacket to keep it looking great.
