Hardcover. Condition: Fair. THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. The Sacrifice by Georges Simenon is a standalone psychological novel, originally published in French as Les Fiançailles de M. Hire (Mr. Hire's Engagement) and translated into English in 1956 by Hamish Hamilton, focusing on the intense emotions and dark complexities of its characters, particularly the peculiar M. Hire, a departure from his famous Inspector Maigret series, showcasing Simenon's talent for stark, realistic "roman dur" (hard novel) storytelling. This book is in fair condition. There is some water damage on the edges of the pages and on the dustjacket cover. The dustjacket cover has a bit of tear and wear, and the hardback book it.
