Original Typed Manuscript with numerous corrections (pencil, red, and green pencil, and dark blue ink).…Both working titles crossed out: TO RUN THE OTHER WAY and RETROGRADE EVOLUTION. Two different inked stamps on first page have dates "8-4-53" written in. 9,000 words. 34 leaves. Novelette. First published by "Science Fiction Plus" magazine in April, 1953. Later published in "Dusty Zebra: And Other Stories. The Complete Short Fiction of Clifford D. Simak" (Open Road Media, 2017), in which the author relates the story was originally named THE GOOGLES ARE A FUNNY RACE when he sent it to Sam Moskowitz in 1952. The publisher of the magazine, Hugo Gernsback, took the liberty of changing the name of the alien race from "Googles" to "Kzyzz". BOOK.
