Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 19th century publication bound in blind stamped black cloth. The reason for the low condition grade is because the exterior spine shows considerable damage, possibly from insects as there are dozens of small holes. Front and rear boards are spotted and soiled and edges show wear but the majority of the exterior issues is limited to the spine area. The internal binding is good and text pages are secure. There is some pulling in spots but nothing too bad. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing and spotting present. There are several areas throughout the book in which somebody pressed four leaf clovers which have been left in the book. Several pages show stains but overall the interior binding is in good shape. There is an area at page 64/65 of the fruit growers section which has some remnants in the gutter - this may be just a binding issue but it may also indicate an illustration or foldout that was removed. The first section the book contains 353 pages, the first report of the fruit growers Society dated 1873 contains 76 pages, the 1874 report contains 144 pages. No handwriting or bookplates present, no library markings, no signatures found. The rear end page and pastedown has some small spots which may be ink or small stamps.
