Textes de Robert Doisneau recueillis par André Maisonneuve, accompagnés de très nombreuses photographies de l'artiste. Catalogue réalisé à l'occasion de l'exposition qui s'est tenue à La Grande Halle de La Villette du 16 novembre 1988 au 22 janvier 1989, et qui réunissait des photographies en noir et blanc par Robert Doisneau prises pendant plusieurs années dans l'usine Renault de Boulogne-Billancourt sur l'île Seguin.
