Jean Rapp (1771-1821) fu un generale francese del Primo Impero. Si arruolò all'età di sedici anni nel 10° Reggimento degli Chasseur a Cheval. Non tardò a distinguersi per il suo coraggio e la sua foga. Nel 1809, a Schönbrunn, riuscì a sventare l'assassinio di Napoleone ad opera di Frédéric Stapps. Venne nominato grande ufficiale della Legion d'Onore il 30 giugno 1811. Tre anni più tardi l'Imperatore ne ricompensò la devozione, nominandolo comandante in capo del 10° Corpo d'Armata e consegnandogli la Grand Croix de la Réunion. Perfette le condizioni, tranne un segno evidente di gora in basso a sinistra.
