Softcover. Condition: g- to g. First edition. Octavo. 64pp. [2]. Tan printed wrappers with black modernist typography on the front cover. This collection of poems by acclaimed Soviet-Yiddish poet Itzik Fefer (1900-1952), was the author's third published collection. The title of the work seems to be in reference to the poet's artistic philosophy of using simple language. Text in Yiddish. Wrappers with some creasing, chipping and tears. Small stains to the cover which looks to have been either repaired or abraded. Chipping along the spine. Interior with some chipping and small closed tears along the edges of pages which are brittle. Wrappers in good-, interior in good condition overall. Quite scarce. Yiddish: ??????? ????, ? ????? Itzik Fefer (1900-1952) was a prominent Ukrainian-born Soviet-Yiddish poet. He was prolific and his poetry was acclaimed by his peers. With his leftist proclivities, he was a prominent member of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee (JAC) and in 1943, along Solomon Mikhoels, the committee's chair, he visited the United States, Canada, Mexico, and England, successfully mobilizing pro-Soviet support. He later fell out of favor with Soviet authorities, and along with his fellow JAC member fell under suspicion. In 1952 he was ultimately executed on the Night of the Murdered Poets, during Joseph Stalin's purges.
