This is a textbook from circa early to mid 1800's discussing and dissecting the a Greek tragedy by Aeschylus, "Prometheus Bound", (????????? ????????) the first play in a trilogy originally written circa 429 and 479 B.C. (dates from Wikipedia) This work also contains, either in whole or in…part, text of the original play written in Ancient Greek. From the preface: "The subject of this tragedy is a struggle between absolute power and the spirit of freedom as displayed by an unsubdued will amid the severest sufferings." Hardcover. Reprint, bound in espresso -brown cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. Copy is in good condition, showing wear on the cover and spine. End papers contain advertisements of other textbooks, and library bookplate from previous owner. No marginalia except for name written in pencil in upper right corner of front end papers. Pages are yellowed with foxing, yet complete and intact. [x] 108 pp. Very nice piece for any theatre enthusiast. Full refund if not satisfied.
