Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. Authentically signed Canadian editions of Harry Potter books are scarce, as J.K. Rowling only visited Canada twice for signing events. The first visit was on October 24, 2000, when she attended the International Festival of Authors at the Skydome in Toronto. Signed copies were only provided to a handful of fans who paid $238.85 (regular tickets were sold for $5.85) for a spot close to the stage, which included an autographed book. Because the book had been released a few months earlier, mainly fifth and sixth printings were available for signing. This copy isn't one of these later printings but a first printing. It was originally owned by Allan MacDougall, the Canadian publisher of the Harry Potter series. It was personally donated in 2000 for a silent auction at the Toronto Book Lovers Ballan annual black-tie fundraiser supporting the Toronto Public Library Foundation. The winning bid was placed by Les Petriw, who carefully preserved the book and dust jacket in pristine condition. Included are a letter from the previous owner and a label from the auction lot. It is housed in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box and accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston (TheHarryPotterSpecialist), the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature, along with an informative collector's card providing additional details. Signed by Author(s).
