No loose or damaged pages and illustrated paper covers still firmly affixed. Spine still intact. Contents clean and unblemished. No record of U.S. publication. The Prison-Breakers is a short story by Edgar Wallace. It tells the story of a group of prisoners who plan and execute a daring escape from prison. The story opens with the introduction of the main characters, a group of prisoners who are serving long sentences for various crimes. The prisoners are led by a man named Jim Carter, who is a brilliant and resourceful criminal mastermind. Carter and the other prisoners plan their escape carefully. They smuggle tools into the prison and dig a tunnel that leads to the outside world. On the night of the escape, Carter and the other prisoners drug the prison guards and escape through the tunnel. The police are quickly alerted to the escape, and they launch a massive manhunt. However, Carter and the other prisoners are able to evade capture. They eventually make their way to a safe house, where they plan their next move. The police eventually track Carter and the other prisoners down to the safe house. A shootout ensues, and several police officers and prisoners are killed. In the end, Carter and the other prisoners are captured and returned to prison.
