Printed docket, 210 x 110 mm. American Express was founded in Buffalo, New York in 1850 as a freight forwarding company and only introduced travel and financial services in the early 1900s. For years it enjoyed a virtual monopoly on the movement of express shipments (goods, securities, currency, etc.) throughout New York State. This would be one of the earliest printed dockets issued to clients on receipt of their goods for shipping.
