The edges of the covers are rubbed and gently bumped. The head of the spine has the remains of a small label. The cloth at the spine ends is frayed. The text block is coming away from the covers. It is hanging on to the front cover by two of the chords. The front pastedown is slightly abraded. Pages mildly browned. The bottom right corners and some of the fore edges of the pages are moisture stained. With the map at the rear. Among the numerous districts discussed are Battle Mountain District, Palmetto District, Blind Spring District, and Clarke District.

The large map shows an unusually large portion of the West, including the portion of Nevada south of Battle Mountain and Elko, parts of California including Death Valley, and reaching to San Bernadino and the Sierra Nevada, with a cross-section of Arizona.
