The Cook Book was undoubtedly issued to raise money for the indisputably good works undertaken by the Home.~~The binding in original wrappers is quite worn and chipped, though with no loss to the text. 132 pp., illustrated with half-tones and with advertisments. ~~We have found but a single copy of this uncommon cookbook on OCLC. Good binding.

Comprises of a rich selection of recipes as compiled by the women of the Kennedy United Church Choir, Cookbook Committee as part of a local fundraising effort for their church. Sections include: Appetizers and Beverages; Breads, Muffins and Waffles; Cakes, Frosting and Fillings; Candies; Cookies and Small Cakes; Desserts; Meats, Fish and Poultry; Pastries; Pickles, Relishes and Preserves; Prize-Winning Recipes; Salads and Salad Dressings; Sandwiches, Filling, Spreads; Supper Dishes; Vegetables, et al.; most recipes accompanied with the names of their respective contributors. Many charming period advertisements by a variety of local and national businesses and merchants inluding: Fred Wong (of Vandura, SK), Fort Garry Tea (HBC Company); National Grain Co., Saskatchewan Co-operative Creamery Association Ltd., the Kipling Citizen, Gladys Strum (one of the few female members of Parliament), amongst many others. Light vertical crease to the centre of the front cover, a few light spots, neat period ink inscription to the upper-right margin of the foreword, else, text-block remarkakly well-preserved with bright, clean, and unmarked leaves and firm, sound binding; very good. Exceptionally rare, and notably NOT found in Driver's magnum opus on the subject: Culinary Landmarks: A Bibliography of Canadian Cookbooks: 1825-1949. We could not locate any instances in OCLC, nor amongst the holdings at LAC/BAC, University of Saskatchewan, McGill, the Fisher, McMaster, Peel, et al. Rare indeed. The Kennedy United Church Choir takes great pleasure in presenting this cook book to meet the cooking needs of whatever home it enters, whether it be country or urban. The Committee in charge feels that the project has been worthwhile and hopes that the large area which this book will serve will benefit from the wide selection of recipes and from the products advertised for the good of all. The Committee appointed by the Choir wishes to thank all contributors, advertisers and those who so graciously submitted tested and tried recipes for household use.
