Henn aims to bring simple fly-tying for trout and salmon to a wider audience of anglers. He advises the beginner to tie with the fingers and without the aid of a vice, to achieve greater speed, delicacy of touch, and more "mobility" through being able to work anywhere and alone if necessary by the riverside Ref HH3.

Photographs and numerous sketches supplement the written word. 123 pages including bibliography and index, followed by three pages listing publisher's other fishing books, three b/w photos and 137 sketches.
