Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Pub by Cassell & Co., Ltd.,[n.d.], circa early 1880's. Three (3) volumes: "A to GEA," "GEA to RES," and "RES to ZYM." VG cond. hardcovers, no dj's. Vol 1 professionally re-bound using original materials & orig marbled eps. Brown cloth over bds, 3/4 brown leather w/ burgundy title blocks & bright gilt lettering on spines, 5 raised bands. Marbled edges & eps. P/O's modest notes & stamps on first few (generally blank) pages, & hand-written gift inscription, signature & date (1886) hand-written on ffep vol 1. Exteriors volumes 2 & 3 scuffed & rubbed. Inside rear pastedown, rfep & last few pages of vol 3 with mdt cosmetic damage & dampstaining, but no warping or wrinkling, and barely penetrates to last couple of pages of text. All 3 vols extensively illustrated in b&w w/ upwards of 5,000 engravings. Foldouts present & intact. A fascinating & instructive set, rarely seen complete. 2831 total pages. All 3 volumes are square, straight, tight & clean except as noted, overall VG or better cond. Same or next day shipping. A large, heavy set, may require extra postage. Please email any questions.
