New and revised edition of this comprehensive guide to cutting clothes for Edwardian women, much expanded from the first of 1890. Interestingly includes numerous examples of early women's athletic wear, including a fencing dress, several pages dedicated to riding habits, a gymnastics dress and varying styles of bathing dresses made from cotton twill. Rare, perhaps a handful of copies of this issue located institutionally. William Deskett Foot Vincent (1860-1926) was apprenticed to a woollen draper in Yeovil aged 13. He progressed to journeyman, plying his trade in several provincial towns eventually opening his own house in Oxford in 1881. In 1883 he graduated from the famous Tailor and Cutter Academy in Gerrard Street, and through his superior grasp of the subject he was invited to work on the Tailor and Cutter by John Williamson and Thomas Darwin Humphreys. Vincent became such a force in the tailoring trade that in 1895 he superseded Humphreys as the editor of the journal.
