8vo (135 x 212 mm). 416 pp. Original cloth boards with unclipped dust jacket. A collection of articles and parodies, inscribed by the author to his American literary agent in German: "Felix Guggenheim, dem Freund und Mentor, mit der Bitte um Aufrechterhaltung in jeglichem Sinne - herzlichst F.T." ("To Felix Guggenheim, my friend and mentor, with the request to keep it up in every sense of the expression. Cordially, F.T." (dated Vienna and Beverly Hills, 1965). - Friedrich Torberg (1908-79), who referred to himself as a Czech Austrian and a Jew, was born in Vienna as Friedrich Kantor, spending much of his early life in Prague. He is remembered as a versatile and fierce-witted novelist, journalist, translator, screenwriter, and editor whose fierce anti-Communism shaped the post-war Austrian cultural scene. - In excellent condition. - From the collection of the German-born publisher and literary agent Felix Guggenheim (1904-76), who emigrated to the California in 1940.
